ELECTRONIC FLORA - VÄRMLAND

Electronic Flora - Värmland is based on recordings of electrical activity from plants in three different locations in Värmland, Sweden. Plants growing in the burnt soil after a forest fire, an old growth forest and a large area of deforestation.

This work includes recordings of ten different plants where the electrical activity is transmitted through modular synthesizers and dictates melodies, notes and rhythms in the music. The electrical signals also provide cues for video editing. Each plant is also portrayed through detailed graphite drawings.
